YOGA TEACHER

Classes: General Yoga Class

My hatha style yoga classes are designed for all levels of fitness ability. While doing physical movements in a yoga class we also work with the mind, emotions and spirit. Through yoga we aim to balance the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of self. My classes include yoga postures [asanas], breathing [pranayama], relaxation and meditation. I am particularly interested in meditation and the practice of mindfulness as a means of managing stress and the demands of daily life. Half day retreats are designed to not only provide time out to relax and connect with self and like-minded others through yoga, but to also provide skills to take home to use in your own private practice.

In 2015 I undertook training to become a certified .b teacher with the UK based organisation Mindfulness in Schools. What a wonderful journey! Integral to my high school teaching job is the delivery of the .b program to year 8 students.

In 2016 I completed a 150 hour yoga teacher training update course withYIMI to fulfil a goal of upgrading my Yoga Australia registration to become a Level 2 Yoga Teacher. In 2017 I am undertaking further yoga teacher training studies with Viniyoga Australia.

I am deeply interested in the spiritual development of individuals through meditation and prayer. Meditation may be beneficial to you whatever cultural or religious background you are from. I have taught mindfulness to adolescents and adults in a variety of contexts. It is my firm belief that all approaches are seeking to provide people with a means to access their quiet inner space to find the peace and equanimity that resides deep within us each of us.
